My dev.to profile

My dev.to profile where I cross-post a lot of my blog posts, slightly tweaked for a different audience who won't necessarily be following my journey

background:

After weeks of posting into the void on X and Reddit — and writing about how demoralizing that silence is — I decided to try dev.to. Same content, slightly adjusted for a different audience. The goal was twofold: get my posts in front of people who wouldn't otherwise see them, and backlink my blog for SEO.

why:

My blog reaches people already following my journey. dev.to reaches people searching for solutions. Cross-posting isn't duplicating effort — it's meeting different readers where they are. The backlinks help my blog's search presence, but the real value is feedback from developers I'd never reach otherwise.

struggles:

[challenge]Getting RSS XML to sync properly with dev.to as an input source took some tweaking — turns out my RSS feed was misconfigured
[learning]Dev.to's public API requires no authentication for basic read operations — unusual compared to most platforms that gate everything behind API keys
